Wildflower Proposal Romance for Hunter & Jill
When Hunter reached out about proposing to Jill halfway through their 2 month road trip through Wyoming & Montana, I knew instantly we would be a great fit! As Montana elopement photographers specializing in all things Glacier National Park, we were glad to get on the phone with Hunter the same day he inquired so we could get a plan together. Their trip was coming quickly so we had to move fast. 🙂
How did Hunter decide to propose amidst Glacier’s wildflowers?
Simply put–it was an amazing backup plan to a few other plans! When Hunter initially reached out he was considering Trail of the Cedars or the Weeping Wall along the Going to the Sun Road. After we chatted, he actually decided to propose atop the Hidden Lake Overlook! And the back up was this stunning meadow with a mountainous backdrop, wildflowers in every direction, & waterfalls flowering behind us!
That moody proposal moment on the Going to the Sun Road
We worked together for a couple of weeks to get the Plan A & Plan B together! That morning before Hunter & Jill left to go into the park we watched the weather very closely. It looked to be a miserable day for hiking with constant drizzle and limited visibility on their particular trail. I recommended opting for Plan B, and Hunter was game! And very nervous!
I arrived at their location and waited patiently to see them as Hunter told me ahead of time exactly what he’d be wearing. This location is a great spot to choose as it doesn’t take much convincing to get someone top stop. Their meadow is a gorgeous pull out along the Going to the Sun Road that couples love to use for photos every year!
Hunter then lead Jill down a trail to get a closer look at the meadow. I followed back at a distance with my longest lens on and even asked another family if I could get their photos so I could fake being their photographer. 🙂 Worked seamlessly!
Hunter & Jill got on a large boulder, he turned her around, & he got on one knee to propose! After a short speech, she happily said yes! They hugged, kissed, & I gave them enough space to enjoy it for a minute!

About our photography service:
“Des and Dan were amazing and very personable. From our very first consultation call, I knew we had made the right choice on our elopement photographer. They were extremely helpful in all the planning and it was clear they were no amateurs! They were super accommodating and managed to work in everything that we wanted in our special day.” -R+R
Wildflowers, Waterfalls, & Romance
Once they were officially engaged, and Jill knew what was really going on (LOL) the two changed for an hour session with me. I gave Hunter the protip to pack them both extra clothes in their bag “for dinner later” so they would have a cute outfit in case they didn’t want their session in their hiking clothes.
While they changed I got some amazing photos of the ring (which didn’t arrive until the night before by the way–another reason Hunter was nervous haha). Then we adventured through the wildflowers and surrounding waterfalls. When their session was done, Hunter and Jill were so excited and so hungry from their day of hiking they took those outfits packed “for dinner” and headed to the nearest restaurant to celebrate their wildflower proposal!
Finals tips to plan your wildflower proposal
If you are hoping for a wildflower proposal in Glacier National Park–your best chance of getting peak blooms is late July-late August! Different types of wildflowers will phase in and out, but generally this is the best time to have a wildflower proposal in high elevations in Glacier National Park. Be sure and contact us to see what dates we have available that will have those gorgeous wildflowers and waterfalls!
One mo time!
Here’s what Hunter said about hiring us:
Des was so incredibly awesome! I reached out about a proposal in Glacier National Park and I think she was just as excited as I was!
After reading through her website I decided to change my original plan, and she helped me plan everything out. I received an extremely professional and detailed email with an entire plan of what time to arrive the best place in the spot I chose and it even included several back up spots with their own plans (which came in handy as we ended up using one of them and it was still perfect!)
She even helped calm me down and plan what to do when the weather wasn’t looking great.
My fiancé and I had so much fun in the 1 hour session we had with her after the proposal and after a very quick few days I received my photos and we fell in love all over again! What a great experience on top of an already incredible time.
Truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
